Defensiveness and change?


Senge (2007) talked about defensiveness and how such patterns can be deeply engrained within organisations. This was something I had not considered much as a classroom teacher, but it is obviously something I will need to consider more when I am a TL as the leadership role necessitates overcoming such defensiveness. Being aware of this, at a recent staff development day, I was shocked by how resistant some teachers are when it comes to adopting change. Overcoming this defensiveness is something I will clearly need to do more research on to be effective in the TL role.
